    Bella

    Bella

Bella woke up for bathroom twice last night.
It’ very unusual because she’s never waken up in the middle of night since she came here.
She is really a housebroken pup. We trust her a lot.
In this morning, I found a little blood in her urine.
It was very shocking and instantly I sensed it as a serious matter.
I took her in the clinic right away.

As a result, she is suffering from urinary-tract infection.
I kind of suspected that happened because I read about it over the internet.
According to the internet resource and our doctor, female dogs are likely to get this disease due to the short urinary-tract.
Dr. Abby prescribed us antibiotic. I hope this will treat her well soon!

I left an empty dog food bag by the back door. Since then, Bella’s been sitting by the bag as if she worshiped it like God.

It’s so funny because she believes it’s her belonging. I don’t know why she does that. She seems to understand it’s an empty bag!

Anyhow, she is a big foodie girl.

    Bell & Hachi

I’ve been taking a long break from this pooch blog. I realized that there are many things happened to our dogs, so I should start writing again with some interesting things about them.

First off, Hachi has gained his appetite after feeding him Beneful Dog Food (Purina). The consistency of Beneful in chunky bits is slightly softer than Dog Chow. I guess that Hachi needed some changes in eating habit with a different food. Since then, he eats food like a “real” hungry dog.

Bella has been growing up dramatically. Last month, she escaped for four times from the opened front door. Nothing serious happened to her every time she did. But we were so frightened with it. I guess she now learned how to hold herself back staying away from the open door. She’s a very fast learner and really great dog. She still has a bad habit to taste her stool in the backyard. It might take long to time break that habit.

Their everyday routine is now like this.

    • A short morning walk at 6:30 am.
    • Napping for 3 hours till 10:30 am. (Sometimes, around 9:30, Bella starts bugging me out by stealing my hands off my desk.)
    • Brunch time at 10:30 am.
    • Playtime from 11:00 to 12:30 including a bathroom break (especially, for number 2!).
    • Afternoon napping time from 1:00 to 4:00 pm (or, 4:30pm).
    • Playtime (family time) from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
    • Dinner at 7:00 pm.
    • Night walk at 7:30 pm.
    • Playtime chewing a toy at 8:00 pm to around 9:00 pm.
    • By the time of 9:30, they seem tired and relaxed in their bed.

Also, Hachi has lost his weight to 80 lb. He used to be around 85lb. Bella has not gained much weight (40 lb), so she might remain in that way for her whole life.

    Brother and Sister

Last night Hachi ate a mix of dog chow, canned food and a couple tablets of Glucosamine.
I tried to feed him just dog chow this morning. But he did not finish it, just eating a couple bites.
It seems like his ear irritation has gone, so I guess that he was bored with dog chow.
    Hopefully, this is it.

    I am protesting!

    I am protesting!

Hachi is not doing well in last 3 days.
He vomited in Friday morning and did not eat all day long.
Although he ate a little in Saturday morning, he again rejected any food at Saturday night and all day on Sunday.

He still did not eat Dog Chow in this morning, so I tried to feed him a mix of dry food and canned food.
Yes! He ate all in his bowl!

I wonder what’s happening to him.
His lame is much better than ever now. He regained strength on a walk and play with Bella.
So, I don’t know what’s going on in himself.

Bella had a minor illness on last Thursday too.
I wonder if she brought back home some kind of stomach bug from the last vet visit.

Hopefully, He is being finicky about dry food.

    Are you lady?

    Are you lady?

Last night, Bella made the first accident in 2 weeks since the last accident. I want to believe that it was just a “whoops” type of thing because she and Hachi played hard before that.

She ended up spending over night at her kennel.

In this morning, she vomited fir the first time. It kinda explains me why she made a mistake. I guess she was sick last night. In fact, she drank a lot of water and went outside for bathroom every hour last night.

She was doing well since vomiting incident.
Her stool looks healthy. She acts normal.
I hope nothing serious is happening in herself.

    cozy

Bella learned the first trick in 2010.
It took her only 15 minutes to get it.
She still mixes with “speak” when she begs for a snack.
Hopefully, she will distinguish “shake” from “speak” soon.

    silly face

    silly face

Bella is apt to have such face when she sleeps because of her overbite mouth.

But I haven’t seen such a silly face on Hachi.

It’s so funny to see how much they are influencing each other.

    Greedy Lady

    Greedy Lady

We gave Bella the first privilege last night: Releasing her in our house over night.
She used to sleep in the crate for 3 weeks.
But she was allowed to sleep anywhere in our house.

She ended up sleeping on a beanbag chair at the downstairs.
In the morning, she was reluctant to get up for the first bathroom break.
She in result made a couple small mistakes on the beanbag chair and the kitchen floor.

Hopefully, she’ll be better tomorrow morning.

    Friends?

    Friends?

We took Bella to the vet for the second check-up.
She seems dewormed with the first dewormer, but just in case, she had another dose today.
She also had a couple vaccinations.

Last night we taught her new trick, a command “Speak!”
It only took her less than 30 minutes to get it right!
She is really smart. I tried to test her today and yes! She remembered it.
What a smart dog she is!

    I'm not completely happy!

    I'm not completely happy!

    I am the alpha dog!

    I am the alpha dog!

Although Hachi is getting used to Bella being around him, he still feels a bit dissatisfied.
He quietly defends his bean-bag chair trying to get on it first.

He is the alpha dog in this house.
Yes, he actually showed Bella how to bark.
Now, Bella can bark even if she never barked before.
